Importance of Breakfast

Breakfast can provide sustenance and energy which is the calories for any task that lies ahead. In the morning, after 12 hours without food, all the energy stores in liver has been used up and this is where our body starts to break down fat to produce the energy it needs. There is one quote from A. A. Gill stated that “Breakfast is everything. The beginning, the first thing. It is the mouthful that is the commitment to a new day, a continuing life“ and that is true! Without breakfast it is hard for an individual to start their day with full of spirit and positive vibes. However, without carbohydrates, fat are only partially used up, which in turn reduce our energy levels. This is why eating breakfast boosts our energy levels and restores our glycogen levels and ready to keep our metabolism up for the day!

Besides that, eating breakfast can avoid one from consuming more food than usual. When the body does not get that fuel from food, we may feel run off energy and we tend to overeat food that are high in fat and sugary later in the day in order to regain the instant energy.

The other importance of breakfast is that it can boosts our concentration, memory and attention. This is because our brain obtained energy from glucose and the glucose will help moving the neurons and allow for quicker synapses to load, process and store new information. It is apparent that through eating breakfast can give healthy benefits to our health, maintain our weight and improve one’s cognitive performance.
